Books 2005 vs. 2006
"Please forgive me if I act a little strange, for I know not what I do..."
I did some figuring the other day, and I read 34 books in 2005. That's the most books I have ever read in a year, including school years. Diverting money away from comics and DVDs in order to be able to afford my mortgage made me finally get down to reading all those books that adorned my shelves in years past.
This year, with the help of the dreaded jury duty, I am already working on my third and fourth books. hopefully I can topple last year's record by completing at least 52 books by year end.
Until next time:

which was best?
That's a hard choice. I read some truly top notch books. Some of the highlights were:
Lamb - Christopher Moore
Flat out hilarious book. You have to have a relaxed postion on christianity in order to get through it though.
Survivor - Chuck Palahniuk
I read all his books, in order, this year. Survivor is way above the rest.
A Long Way Down - Nick Hornby
I only knew of Hornby through the novels that were turned into movies; About A Boy, High Fidelity, and Fever Pitch [the British version with Colin Firth, not the dreadul Jimmy Fallon version]. Darkly funny tale about four people that attempt suicide on the same night. I know it sounds sad, but it is really funny.
thanks. always looking for some more reads..and since i like the way you think (so far), i figure it can't hurt.
Two books I would like suggest are Steinbeck's The Wayward Bus and Kerouac's The Dharma Bums. They are the most underrated books I have ever read. Brilliant books. Just as good as any of the great, well known works by both authors.
gotcha. read steinbeck years ago..might be good to give it another go..i'm sure there's something i missed back then..
