Three Word Wednesday - March 28, 2007

"You and me have seen
everything to see
From Bangkok to Calgary
And the soles of your shoes
are all worn down"

Three Word Wednesday - March 28, 2007

Sir Bone of Bama has Three Word Wednesdays at his blog. The project is that he picks three words, then people write a bit utilizing those three words. The three words this week were easily, type, shattered. Below you will find my attempt.

It was a cold, bitter day along I-81. Arthur felt a weight heavily upon his shoulders at thought of his life spent traveling these darkened highways. Riding in the back of an empty Trailways bus, he thought back to figure out just how many years it had been. 38, no 39. Easily. Wife left home alone, check. Kids reared in what appeared to be a single-parent home, you betcha. Up until last fall Arthur had always considered what he did as something he had to do for his family. In the beginning he felt the traveling salesman lifestyle somewhat romantic, always reading up on that type growing up in his cramped, childhood abode. Nearing his twilight years all that he has to show of his life is worn shoes, a barren wallet, and a shattered family hanging just out of his wake.

Until next time:
"A whole generation of writers dined out on the dialectic between original cultures and their culture by "progress." They became traveling salesmen of metaphors." - Anatole Broyard

Interesting direction. I've been having trouble being very imaginative lately, so posts like this make me a little envious.

Thanks for participating.
